The role:

As a Graduate Trainee Accountant, you will embark on a dynamic journey to develop foundational skills in accounting while contributing to the success of our clients and firm. This role offers a structured training program encompassing daily client interactions, monthly accounting tasks, and involvement in value-adding projects, providing a comprehensive understanding of the accounting profession.

 

The responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Accounts Preparation: Collaborate with senior accountants to gather financial data, reconcile accounts, and prepare accurate financial statements. Ensure timely submission of accounts to regulatory authorities.
  • Assisting with VAT Preparation: Compile and analyse transactional data, prepare VAT returns, and ensure compliance with tax regulations. Ensure timely submission of VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Liaising with Clients: Cultivate strong relationships with clients by serving as a primary point of contact, addressing enquiries, and providing tailored support.
  • Phone Calls: Handle incoming phone calls from clients promptly and professionally, providing assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction.

 

Ad Hoc Tasks:

  • Engaging in Business Process Enhancement Projects: Participate in diverse projects aimed at enhancing clients’ business processes, such as process automation initiatives or the implementation of new standards, to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Liaising with HMRC: Act as a liaison between our firm and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), ensuring timely responses to inquiries and maintaining compliance with regulations.

 

The requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a strong academic record
  • Proficiency in accounting principles and practices demonstrated through coursework or practical experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Proactive attitude and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Eagerness to learn and grow professionally within the accounting profession
  • Commitment to five star service and delivering a ‘wow’ experience to clients and team members
